Using Visualization to Change Limiting Beliefs

It’s easy to overlook the power of limiting beliefs and spend years wondering why you can’t

seem to move forward and make lasting changes in your life. Though you might have grand

dreams of living a better life, limiting beliefs will keep prodding you to act in ways that are

counterproductive to those dreams.

Everything you do (or don’t do) is based on an internal set of subconscious beliefs.

In some situations these beliefs can be helpful, but they can also cause big problems by

placing limitations where none really exist. For example, if you hold a subconscious belief

that you don’t have what it takes to create a successful career, you’ll find yourself taking

jobs that offer little opportunity for promotion or advancement - or even satisfaction.

No matter how badly you want to experience more success in your career, you’ll continue

to think and act in ways that make it impossible to do so.

Limiting beliefs can be difficult to change because we often don’t realize they exist!

They reside in our subconscious minds and rarely make themselves known in obvious ways. Rather, we usually become aware of them when we decide to make changes in our lives and keep bumping up against invisible walls.

Visualization is one powerful tool that can be effective in changing limiting beliefs,

because the process of visualization speaks directly to the subconscious mind and plants

more empowering messages - which can override the limiting beliefs.

Before you enter into the visualization process, it’s a good idea to figure out what kind of

limiting beliefs you suspect you may have. Asking yourself specific questions and writing

down your answers can be an illuminating way to find out. Try questions like these for starters:

- Am I making as much money as I want? If not, why not?

- Do I love my career, or would I rather be doing something else?

- Am I happy with the size and state of my body? If not, why not?

- Am I happy with the things I’ve achieved in my life so far?

- What else would I like to achieve?

- Do I really believe I’m capable of doing these things?

- If not, why not?

As you write down your answers to these questions, you’ll likely notice some limiting beliefs

popping up in response. For example, when you ask why you’re not yet making the amount

of money you desire, your answer might be, “I’m earning as much as I can at my current job,

and there are no other prospects for me to get a better job right now.”

As much as that might appear to be true, it’s a limiting belief! In other words, you THINK it’s true, but in reality it’s simply your perception.

Once you’ve identified a limiting belief, write it down like these examples:

- I don’t believe I can make more money than I do now.

- I don’t believe I deserve a healthy, loving relationship.

- I don’t believe I can have a better career than I do now.

- I don’t believe I will ever be able to lose weight.

Once you’ve got a list of limiting beliefs, perform a visualization exercise daily and imagine that the opposite is true. For example, call up mental images of yourself receiving a great new job, or stumbling upon unexpected opportunities to boost your income in other ways.

Be sure to actually move yourself into the feelings of these visions as if you were really experiencing them rather than just “seeing” them in your mind.

It will take time and consistent effort to change your belief in what is possible, but the more you focus on consciously believing in the possibilities, the more you’ll begin to let go of your inner limitations and open to better circumstances.

Even better, the greatest part about this process is that you don’t need to know “how” something is possible - you just need to be willing to believe it is, and that is often enough to attract new opportunities that will change everything.

The Body Language Technique Approach vs. True Physiological Change

by: Rion Williams

If you’ve been studying self-improvement and wanting to have more success with women and dating, you have probably come across different ways of doing things.

There are many teachers who will teach you how to ‘act’ the part because you aren’t yet at the level of being truly comfortable and congruent in your own skin like a natural, ‘alpha male’ would be.

So they teach you things such as; stand up straight, stick your chest out, practicing holding her eye contact, moving slower, etc.

It may even look like progress is being made when you do these things that they have seen alpha male’s do. After all you’re taking ‘action’ and it must mean something.

Well, unfortunately that’s pretty much what it is; acting.

Look, you can try ANY number of body language ‘techniques’ or exercises but you’re STILL going to have the fear and incongruency around these beautiful and powerful women that you desire.

Ideally, you would want TRUE and PURE physiological change and a method to get there.

Isn’t there ANYTHING out there that will finally teach you how to effectively have real, core physiological change? I mean, true and pure change so that all of your actions stem not from acting but from ‘being’ that man of higher natural character?

Yes, there is finally an answer. It extends beyond NLP, hypnosis and body language exercises. It’s called Alpha Relational Dynamics.

No longer is it enough to just ‘know thyself’ anymore. Why? Because the root of your repression and lack of effectiveness is in these influential powers which you don’t understand.

You were born with and inherently have ‘the power’ to succeed with seducing women, it’s just been covered up and repressed by powers that you unknowingly allowed to be greater than you.

Women are representing a tremendous amount of socially leveraged power and no level of ‘inner game’ fixing or NLP is going to change the reality of that. You just have to understand your relationship to the root of the power she represents and what it means to you.

Things really aren’t that difficult but you just have to see through to the truth of what is going on and what has covered up your natural ability.

Once you understand your relationship to the powers of influence and where you fit amongst it all, THEN you will be able to clearly ‘be yourself’ and ‘be’ comfortable in your own skin because you can move that repression of your natural character into it’s proper place.

This equals fast physiological change and it happened for me too. One of my students said that it’s like ‘when someone tells you that your father wasn’t your father’. It’s that type of change.

In fact, I don’t see any other way if you were brought up in a social culture like this.

It’s either, remain ignorant to the grand relational dynamics and keep hitting the wall OR have cognition of the relational and social truth and reclaim your power.

Once you have your power, you’ll be able to consistently succeed with women and dating because you will always be doing the ‘right’ things physiologically and nonverbally around them. The social power they represent won’t be intimidating you and getting in your way anymore. You’ll be free to be yourself; but with power!

Though studying alpha male role models such as movie heroes can be important, it doesn’t necessarily lead to true change for yourself.

Apply alpha relational dynamics and you will ‘be’ more of what women want without resorting to gimmick tricks or techniques to ‘act’ the part. We all know that women will catch your ‘acting’. Find out more about the path to empowerment.

The Secret Behind The Law Of Attraction

What is the true secret behind the law of attraction? I am often asked.

The most common definition for the law of attraction is that “like attracts like”.

This definition, even though accurate, hardly explains how the law of attraction works.

Some people talk about vibes and frequencies, but what is the most scientific explanation of the law of attraction?

The true secret behind the law of attraction hinges on the concept of reality and how much of it we can perceive.

The reality of the universe out there is so huge that our conscious mind cannot handle it in its entirety, so it has no choice but to filter the reality and let only a tiny fraction of it in.

What you perceive becomes your reality, and what you do not perceive does not even exist in your reality or your universe.

So once you have chosen a part of the vast reality of the universe to be perceived by you, in effect you attract that part of the universe to you.

That part of the reality of the universe was filtered by you, picked by you, or in effect attracted to you.

Now, the most interesting aspect of this filtering, that we do constantly, is that these filters only let similar reality to pass through.

To give you an analogy, blue shades would let only blue light to pass through.

This applies to all of our senses and to our perception in general.

This is the secret behind the law of attraction. One who wears green shades is attracting green color, per se.

You can see the same mechanism in Quantum Physics. The reality that state of the universe (wave function) offers is incredibly huge.

The possibilities are vast, but our measurement devices, which are extensions of our senses, pick only a small part of that reality.

In effect, they filter the universe to get the part we want to observe.

In other words, we get from the universe, what we ask for. Why?

Because when we truly ask for something, we are filtering everything out except the thing we want to receive.

That’s how the universe gets us what we are asking for.

That’s how we attract from the universe what we truly ask.

But what does “truly ask” mean? How should you ask to attract exactly what you want?

12 Steps To Turbo-charge Your Visualisation

1. Every night, half an hour before retiring, go to your room, where you can be entirely alone and as remote as possible from noise and distraction.

2. Seat yourself in a wide and comfortable chair, or, better still, lie down on your back at full length. See that your clothing is loosened, so that you will suffer no distressing annoyance on this account. Compose yourself as if for sleep, assuming a position of restfulness, abandon and utter relaxation. Close your eyes, letting the lids rest lightly on your cheeks.

3. Shut your mind resolutely against every form of bodily sensation. Forget for the time that you are encumbered with a body.

4. Bar out of your consciousness every memory, every thought of the past.

5. Build a mental picture of the thing you want to have, to do or to be - the one thing that you immediately desire first and most of all. By this we mean nothing indefinite. We do not refer to ultimate aims that can come only as the result of long periods of effort. We mean something specific, something that can be yours tomorrow, something that in itself constitutes the next step in your chosen career.

6. See yourself finding the ways and means of realizing your desire, overcoming obstacles one after another, all the obstacles that can possibly arise. See yourself called upon to display, and displaying, alertness, promptness, courage, confidence, resourcefulness, patience, push, enterprise, expert knowledge, insight, shrewdness, tact, self-control, decision. See yourself face to face with the situation that confronts you in real life and manifesting the qualities and doing the things necessary to your purpose. Put yourself body and soul into this picture. Multiply details. Rivet your mind upon it.

7. Advance step by step, logically, wisely, consistently, to the climax of the drama. See yourself winning out. See yourself solving the problem, getting the thing you want, acting the part you desire to play. Detach your spirit from the flesh of this world and incorporate it in the mental image of yourself. Live the victory mentally until a sense of its reality permeates your soul.

8. Make your dream picture as delightful as possible. Dwell upon it with joyful satisfaction. Warm your heart with a feeling of thankfulness that that which you have so long desired is really yours. This feeling of gratitude, this emotional element, will bring forth associations that will give life to the picture and will animate your faith. Keep yourself tight shut in this dream world for at least fifteen minutes.

9. Arise and make your preparations for the night. Then upon retiring once more close your eyes and let your mind dwell upon your vision for five or ten minutes or until you fall asleep. Let it be the last thing in your thoughts as you become unconscious.

10. Every time you are awake during the night call the mental picture before you and keep it in consciousness as long as you remain awake.

11. In the morning, immediately upon awaking, repeat the procedure set out in the third, fourth and fifth instructions.

12. The more of your spare time you spend in this way, the more promptly will you actualize your ideals. By repeated concentration, every detail of the image of your desire will be so deeply engraved upon your mind as to exert an influence throughout the day. It will inhibit wasteful emotions and impulses. It will give you poise and self-possession. It will so inspire you with its promise as to awaken an energizing response in the profoundest depths of your subconsciousness.

Melissa Van Rossum

We all love to feel motivated. I know I do. It’s absolute nirvana to be on purpose and on task at the same time. But life often intervenes in my plans and that can mean stress, frustration and setbacks and I find that I have to live my life on Inner Motivation – particularly when the proverbial chips are down. Most of us wait for someone else to give us a reason to move ahead or we wait for circumstance or opportunity to line up in just the right way so we can move ahead with the inner commitment we’ve been holding back. We wait for our partner to say ‘I love you’ first, we wait for a sign of acceptance before we commit to revealing some part of ourselves and we wait for the evidence of the result before we commit our belief.

To many of us this seems like a smart or even shrewd way of going about business and life. We think we’re protecting and insulating ourselves by not putting too much ‘out there’ and therefore avoiding disappointment or (God forbid) rejection. In reality, though, this is actually a very dangerous way to live life because it puts your life and your happiness in someone else’s hands - a sure fire equation for misery. From the inside this may seem like a very controlled way to live life, but it’s actually a very out of control way to live life. That’s why it makes us so unhappy and leaves us so unfulfilled. There’s nothing dependable or controlled about it.

One of my favorite movie scenes is from the Indiana Jones movie where he (played by Harrison Ford) and his father (played by Sean Connery) are searching for the Holy Grail. Indiana’s father lies dying at the hands of the Nazis and to save his life Indiana must find the Holy Grail. To get to the Grail, Indiana has to accurately decode his father’s Grail diary which will enable him to make his way through certain life-threatening challenges. After successfully making his way through several of the tests, he comes to a huge chasm that lies between where he is and where he wants to be. He reads the Bible passage from his father’s diary which has to do with “faith being the evidence of things not seen”. He picks up a handful of sand and throws it out to the chasm only to see the sand fall on an invisible bridge.

I personally believe there lies a bridge across every chasm we face, no matter the depth or the breadth of the canyon. The path to whatever we want in life always exists and we can find it if we have the unwavering commitment and willingness to learn and grow in the ways required of us.

“Courage is the price that life extracts for peace of mind.”

Amelia Earhardt

When the relationship or the job or the project doesn’t go the way you wanted it to, you need to have Authentic Inner Motivation to get you to where you want to be. You can’t force yourself to be motivated. You have to develop it from the inside out. Having Authentic Inner Motivation at your disposal whenever you want it requires focus, commitment and discipline.

How do you do develop Authentic Inner Motivation? Let’s take a look at the formula:

1. Set Goals - First, decide what you want. Take your sales, income and personal goals, and be crystal clear about them. Write them down and look at them several times throughout the day. A vague goal of doing the best you can or giving your best every day won’t get you there. You have to clearly see what you want – and often.

I have a Vision Folder. Inside it I have photographs, pages from magazines and mock-ups that reflect my goals. It’s an easy and portable way to keep my goals in front me, and I look at them every morning and evening.

2. Commitment – Nothing happens without complete and total personal commitment. If you’re leaving out even 1% of your total dedication to accomplishing your goal, you won’t get there. Think about this…what would happen if your doctor had a 99% commitment to healing you or your loved one? Would that be enough for you? Would you have respect for them?

If you want to sleep well at night, if you want to be respected by those you’re in relationship with and if you want to have overwhelming self-respect – commit 155% of yourself to your goals and watch your life change for the better.

3. Self-Honesty – This is a tough one for some folks. Not everyone is comfortable taking a hard look within. But if you’re serious about being successful you need to look within to see what you’re doing to create your own experience. You also need to be honest about what skills you need to learn to get you to where you want to be. Also, take an honest internal inventory of your emotional health. If you’re carrying resentment from your last employment experience, your last relationship or any other experience, it’s limiting the success you create today.

Think about the people you’ve known that use resentment as insulation in their life – now notice how betrayal is a common theme in their life. There’s a reason for that. Call it the Law of Attraction, Karma, a self-fulfilling prophecy or the “as ye sow, so shall ye reap” principle, it means you are creating your own experiences. When you hold on to resentment, you are (subconsciously) believing that you don’t have a choice or any power in your current situation, that the other person is against you in some way and so this situation will turn negatively and there’s nothing you can do about it. Resentment always breeds betrayal in your life. Take an emotional inventory and heal and release the reasons for the negative emotions – particularly the resentment and watch the prosperity roll in!

4. Accountability – It doesn’t matter whether you listen to a minister, your favorite self-improvement author, your Mom or Dr. Phil, they will all tell you the same thing…your life is created from the inside out, so you might as well own it. Blame of any kind is a jail cell for your spirit.

5. Commit to Faith & Belief – Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith is the evidence of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” - the faith and the belief has to come first – the evidence comes after. There was a book written several years ago under the title You’ll See It When You Believe It. Great title. In the tarot deck, the first card is the card of the Fool which shows a picture of a young man ostensibly walking off of the edge of the cliff – it’s said to be the bravest, most powerful card in the entire deck.

6. Have an Attitude of Gratitude – The most powerful words you can ever use, think or write is THANK YOU. Just as resentment can shut down your prosperity and relationships, an attitude of gratitude will open the floodgates of prosperity and love in your life. (Remember to use these powerful words with yourself as well!) Every life experience is a gift and a perspective of appreciation makes the inherent wisdom of our experiences all that more evident to us.

7. Practice Tolerance – Judgment is another self-limiting behavior that limits your success and hampers your motivation and creativity. Judgment is a terrible burden to carry around and creates a paranoiac state of mind. Practice tolerance and lighten your load!

8. Get Inspired – Inspiration comes from different sources for different people, and it’s essential that we know what works for us and that we prime these sources often. I have a writer friend who has her most motivating songs on a separate section on her iPod. When she feels blocked or frustrated or discouraged, one of the things she does is listen to those songs one by one. Long before the end of the songs she’s belting out the words right along with her favorite artist and she’s ready to take another stab at her project at hand. I like to go for a walk or a run outside. With two small children in my life I may only get ½ hour to squeeze in a run or a walk but that time is so inspirational to me. It really stirs my creativity. Meditating is inspirational as is a good movie, a good book or talking with someone else whose success you admire.

9. Take Care of Your Health – If you don’t feel well, it’s hard to stay motivated. So take good care of your health! Eat well, take vitamins, exercise every day, play, rest and enjoy your work! There’s a saying…anyone would give their money to have health, but no one would give their health to have money. Right now I’m really into juicing. It’s an idea that came to me while I was sitting outside (of course) next to the koi pond at Children’s Hospital when my son was ill last summer. As often as my husband could he would join us and come turn cartwheels to distract and make our son laugh so I could get some food into him. When –pop- there was the idea – juicing. It’s worked beautifully. Our son began drinking his veggies and since they’re masked under pineapple or apple or strawberries, he loves every drop. The rest of our family has started juicing as a result and I’m amazed at how good it makes you feel and how much energy it gives you! A friend of ours picked up the Jack Lalanne juicer for us while we were still in the hospital and he has a neat video on his site at http://www.powerjuicer.com .

Authentic Inner Motivation isn’t just a skill that will help you earn the kind of money that you want or that will make you happier while you’re doing it, it’s a way of living that will help you to live a happier and more successful life.

Use the AIM Formula in your work and let yourself shine! You’ll be happier, more successful and more prosperous for doing it.

Secondhand Words

by Steve G. Jones

We hear a lot about the dangers of secondhand smoke. These dangers are real. However, secondhand words can be just as destructive.

I’m referring to the negative words we hear at work, at home, on TV, etc. The words which are spoken, not necessarily to you, which lodge themselves in our subconscious mind just like secondhand smoke lodges itself in your lungs. The damage is not obvious at first, but with repeated exposure over time, these toxic words do serious damage.

Here are some examples of toxic word phrases:

“I can’t do it”

“I’m broke”

“My life stinks”

“Life’s a b**** and then you die”

Again, these words may not even be spoken TO you, but if you are exposed to them regularly, they will affect you.

Do you hang out at work with people who don’t really believe in their possibilities? You know the type. They get together to talk about how bad the job is and how pointless life is, etc. I’m certainly in favor of having compassion for fellow humans, but make sure you don’t get dragged down into the pit.

The best way to help someone out of a pit of despair is to make sure both of your feet are firmly planted on the ground and then you can pull them out safely. If you get down in the pit with them, who is going to help YOU? It’s YOUR job to help yourself, so take this job seriously. Keep your “subconscious lungs” clean, healthy, and fully-functioning.

So, how do we do this? By avoiding exposure to people who dwell on the negative. By filling our minds with positive phrases. By seeking associations with those who already believe in themselves and their possibilities.

Are you ready to clear those “lungs” right NOW? I have dedicated my life to developing hypnosis products and services which remind you of the passion and determination you naturally have to move forward with your goals quickly and easily.
Build Character with Knuckle Power and Free Your Child from Fear!

by: Jean Tracy

If your kids worry, feel anxious or fearful, you might hear them say, “I can’t.” This can be hard on you and your child. If you want your child to take reasonable risks and try new things, let Knuckle Power come to the rescue. It’s a great parenting technique I learned years ago from NLP Classes. Knuckle Power (my term) can change “I can’t” into “I can.” Let’s find out how.

I remember a six-year old girl I’ll call “Sally” (not her real name). Sally’s mother brought her to counseling because Sally refused to go to her room. This caused problems at bedtime. Sally would scream and cry, “I’m afraid.”

Sally told me, “The lions and tigers will hurt me.” Sally believed that the lions and tigers from the local zoo were waiting for her in her bedroom. “It’s time for Knuckle Power,” I thought.

In talking with Sally, I found out that she needed bravery, confidence, and the feeling of success to deal with her fear of going to bed. I knew she could have all three with Knuckle Power.

“Sally,” I instructed, “press the top knuckle of your index finger with the index finger of you’re your other hand.” After she practiced a few times, I told her to tell me a time when she was very brave.

“I felt brave when I raised my hand and answered a question.”

I told Sally, “Describe it in detail and when you feel brave, press your knuckle.”

“That was fun!” exclaimed Sally.

I told Sally, “Tell me 5 brave things you’ve done, and when you have the brave feeling, press your knuckle.” Next, she told me 5 successful things she had done, and then five things she did with confidence. Each time she was to press her knuckle when she felt brave, successful, or confident. By the end of the session, Sally had 15 great feelings stacked on her knuckle.

Sally’s homework was to press her knuckle and to feel all those good feelings as she walked down the hall to her bedroom.

The Change:

Sally and her mother returned in two weeks. Her mother grinned saying, “Sally slept in her own bed every night without a single problem.” Sally smiled and said, “Yep, I just pressed my “button.”

In a Nutshell:

Identify your child’s problem.

Ask your child to identify qualities s/he needs to deal with the fear.

Explain how to use Knuckle Power.

Have your child press the index knuckle as s/he feels the needed qualities while telling you about each successful event.

Knuckle Power is great because your child will enjoy sharing all the successes. Don’t forget to tell your child to let you know the end results.

Knuckle Power changes “I can’t” to “I can.” Knuckle Power promotes reasonable risks, builds self-esteem and character too. Teach Knuckle Power to help your child feel great when facing fear. You’ll be glad you did.

NLP Eye Accessing Cues & Persuasion - The Truth!

hey say the eyes are the windows to the soul .... We’ve all seen this Neuro Linguistic Programming [NLP] model before.

If you look at a person face on and ask certain questions you can observe how an individual retrieves and stores certain information by the way their eyes move. e.g. “What colour is your front door?” The chances are they will look up to the right before answering.

If we ask them what they’re planning to do for their summer holidays, they’ll probably look up to the left before answering.Sometimes they might hear the sounds in their pictures or if they look down to the right they are listening to their inner voice.

If they look down to the left, they are actually feeling - there is an emotional bodily response.

So why is this useful?

Well it allows us to get an idea of their thought processes - are they a Visual, Auditory or Kinaesthetic person? In NLP we call these “Preferred Representaional Systems.”

So if when you ask questions you watch their eyes and see them look up. they are seeing pictures, so if you want to persuade them use visual words such as bright, pretty, focus, zoom in, etc.

The Truth about Eye Accessing!

Remember this is a general rule! It’s an NLP model and sometimes the model lies. Eye accessing cues have come under a lot of scrutiny over the last few years in NLP - many people access information in different ways! For example if they are left handed - the model may be reversed! The key to finding out is to ask questions and observe!

The Persuasion Skills NLP Power Tips

    1. Ask them about their favourite person their eyes will move as they search for the answer and then move to a spot. Guess What? That’s where they keep their friends!! If you want to persuade them stand in the same spot!!! You can check this by asking about people they don’t like! It will be a different spot. The key is to watch…

    2. Ask them questions that you know they’ll have to answer “yes” or “no” to. They’ll have a “yes” and a “no” spot I’ll leave it up to you to figure out the endless possibilities…

One of the most important and useful aspects of using NLP to

master yourself is in the art of creating resource states.

Resource states are states of mind that can be used to

positively re-program your past, present and future.

One of the classic uses in NLP is for programming a state of

confidence into your future. Most adults have experienced a

profound sense of confidence at some stage in their life.

Maybe it only lasted a few seconds and was many years ago.

This is fine. The beauty of NLP allows us to capture that

wonderful resource and create more of that state, and place

it exactly where we desire!

The amount of different useful states of mind is vast and

the fact is we hardly ever tap into these ‘hidden

resources.’ Resource states include; Confidence, Creativity,

Relaxation, Playfulness, Concentration, Perseverance,

Ecstasy.... Any others?

Here’s a couple of examples to clarify what I’m getting at:

Have you ever read a book that made you feel really

inspired? Where could you use that? How about programming

that state into your workplace? Do you compose music? Paint?

Giving a sales pitch?

Can you remember or imagine a time being in nature,

surrounded by mellow shades of green with soft sounds of

birds in the distance and a close by stream. Where could you

use that state of tranquility?

And now to the actual technique. Treat yourself to 10 - 15

minutes to do this the first time. As you practice the

technique more you’ll be able to achieve good results in

less time....

NLP Technique:

Program A Resource State Into A Future Situation

1. Think of a resource state you want more of in a future

situation. (Joy, Ecstasy, Fun, Creativity, Confidence,

Compassion etc.)

2. Relax down into a trance. (Use whatever way you want to

go into a relaxed state. e.g. Deep breathing, self-hypnosis,

meditation techniques.) The more relaxed you become the more

powerful the rest of the exercise will be, so enjoy becoming

more relaxed.

3. Remember a time you felt the chosen resource state

strongly. Or imagine a situation in the future that would

allow you to feel that resource state. NOTE: There are

several tips in the NLP ToolBox eBook to help you remember

better.

4. Fully associate into the experience and see what you saw

at the time, hear what you heard and feel those feelings.

Make the colours brighter, turn up the sounds and amplify

the feelings. Anchor this feeling by squeezing your finger

and thumb together.

5. Notice where those feelings are in your body. What colour

would you give these feelings? Imagine spreading that

colour/feeling up and down your body, amplifying the

feelings. When the feelings are amplified, again squeeze

your finger and thumb together to capture that feeling.

6. Break state. (Look around the room or remember your phone

number.)

7. Test Anchor: Squeeze your finger and thumb together. If

you’ve done the above steps correctly you should feel those

feelings coming back. Congratulate yourself (This is very

useful as it re-enforces the idea in your mind that you can

do these exercises and they will become even easier to do!)

8. Here’s a great tip they don’t often tell you in NLP

books. Treat yourself and make a ‘Super Resource State’? Go

back to step one and stack another state on top of the first

one. Squeeze the same finger and thumb together! Cool or

what? (Example: Confidence AND Creativity.)

9. Now think of a specific situation where this supreme

resource state would be useful.

10. Imagine what you will see/hear just before you want this

state to kick in. Example: The boss’s door, the eye’s of a

specific member of the opposite sex, a blank painting

canvas, a tennis ball etc.

11. Now fire the resource anchor by squeezing your finger

and thumb together whilst imagining being in the chosen

situation, unfolding as you desire it too.

Well done, you can now look forward to that future situation

even more. Where else and how else can you use the above

technique? (Hint: The possibilities are virtually

unlimited!)

Each time you practice the technique with another resource

state/situation you will condition your mind to make the

procedure even easier next time…
